Welcome Friends and Family!

Our hopes for this blog is to keep you updated as to how God is working in and through us as we serve Him by reaching out to children in crisis here in the Philippines. Please continue to pray for us regularly! Thank you!

We've moved into our house!

Dear Friends and Family,
It has been several days since we have written to you.  We wanted to let you know that we moved into our house just yesterday!  It was a smooth transition with all of our appliances such as our refrigerator and stove coming in a timely manner.  Our colleagues here have been extremely helpful in getting us everything we need and showing us how to use the local transportation systems (motorized tricycle/motorbike and jeepneys) to get around.  It is all still pretty new to us, but slowly we are adjusting to life here.  We were also able to meet our language school teachers, so that was helpful.  We begin language  on March 15, my (Matt) birthday, so that is fast approaching.  I have definitely had some anxiety about learning the language, as I think Becki has as well.  We have heard some stories of encouragement from missionaries who have shared their difficult experiences learning a language but how God was faithful to them in the process.  Pray that we will depend on God during this process.  We've already been able to meet some of our neighbors and hope to get to know them more and practice our Tagalog with them.
I (Matt) am going to be able to return to the U.S. in April for about a week to be a part of my brother's wedding.  I am looking forward to that very much, but it will be strange leaving my family over here for a week.
Well, that is about it for now.  Thank you everyone for your prayers and support.  Keep them coming as we adjust to this culture and learning a new language!  Bye!

Love,
Matt, Becki, and the boys

  2. Hey guys! Its Anthony (Heidi's friend). Been pr.g for you four. For the language, for your family, and that he would prepare your work even now to be set in motion in His timing. Anyhow, I feel led to share with you this verse, Eph 2:17. In reflecting how we are to be an extension of Ch.t and his merits to our communities, I pr.d that you would be an extension of Ch.t’s cross-purchased peace to your community in YOUR coming! =) Wish you all the best.

    Blessings,
    Anthony
